64th PROVINCIAL CONVENTION

MAY 26-27, 2017

GENERAL

I am directed by the Provincial Executive Council to issue this Convention Call to all Branches of The Prince Edward Island Command, The Royal Canadian Legion, to assemble their delegates in Wellington Br. No. 17 on May 26, 2017 for the 64th Provincial Convention.   This call is issued in accordance with Section 201 of The Provincial Bylaws of The Royal Canadian Legion, Prince Edward Island Command.

 

BUSINESS SESSIONS

The business session of the Convention will open at 10:00 a.m. on Friday, May 26th   REGISTRATION WILL COMMENCE AT 8:00 a.m.

BASIS OF REPRESENTATION

The attention of the Branches is directed to Section 202 of The Provincial Bylaws of Prince Edward Island Command, The Royal Canadian Legion, which establishes Branch representation on the basis of  ONE ACCREDITED DELEGATE FOR THE FIRST 50 VOTING MEMBERS OR FRACTION THEREOF, AND ONE FOR EACH ADDITIONAL 100 OR FRACTION THEREOF,  AS OF DECEMBER 31, 2016

PER CAPITA TAX

Under Section 202 (2), Branch representation is based on the number of paid up Voting members, at the end of the preceding calendar year. 

IN ORDER TO QUALIFY TO VOTE, ALL DELEGATES MUST HAVE THEIR 2017 MEMBERSHIP DUES PAID.

MEMBERS OF PROVINCIAL EXECUTIVE COUNCIL

Section 202 (1) establishes the right of members of Provincial Executive Council as delegates, entitled to vote.

PAST PROVINCIAL PRESIDENTS

Section 202 (1) establishes the right of Past Provincial Presidents, in attendance, who are in good standing, the status of Accredited Delegates, entitled to vote.

CREDENTIAL CERTIFICATES

A Credential Certificate will be sent to each Branch for proper completion and return to Provincial Command.

PROXY REPRESENTATION

Section 207 of The Provincial Bylaws of The Prince Edward Island Command, The Royal Canadian Legion reads:  accredited delegates SHALL NOT be permitted to carry or exercise a proxy.

CONVENTION REGISTRATION FEE

The registration fee is fifty ($50.00) dollars for each Delegate and Observer.  This fee shall be paid at the time of registration.  Spouses wishing to participate in Convention activities must register and pay the required registration fee of fifteen ($15.00) dollars.

RESOLUTIONS

All resolutions must reach Provincial Command SIXTY (60) DAYS PRIOR TO THE OPENING DATE OF THE CONVENTION, in accordance with Section 206 of The Provincial Bylaws of The Prince Edward Island Command, The Royal Canadian Legion.  DEADLINE FOR RESOLUTIONS TO REACH PROVINCIAL COMMAND THEREFORE, IS MARCH 27, 2017.

ACCOMMODATION PROCEDURE

Branches and/or Delegates are responsible for booking their own accommodations.  Booking of the accommodations for out of Province guests will be a Provincial Command responsibility.  A list of various accommodations in the area will follow.
