VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 19 / 99 THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND COMMAND SHERREN, Lester Ronald WWII Lester was born in Crapaud, PEI, the son of David and Laura (Carrier) Sherren. He moved to Howland, PEI and managed a large fox ranch. Lester enlisted in the Royal Canadian Service Corps and became a cook. His service was in Canada and in Europe. On return home, he opened a meat store in Hunter River, PEI with his wife Ethel (Champion); they raised a family of eleven children. SHERREN, John Louis “Jack” PEACETIME Jack was born on July 17, 1937, to Louis H. D. and Dorothy Sherren. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in September 1954 and served at the rank of Leading Aircraftsman as an Airframe Technician at RCAF Station St. Jean, Quebec; Borden, Ontario and Bagotville, Quebec. He was killed in a car accident in Bagotville in October 1956. Jack was honoured with a full military honour guard at his funeral at the St. John’s Anglican Church Cemetery in Crapaud, PEI. SHERREN, Earl Daniel WWI Earl was born in Crapaud, PEI on July 17, 1893, the son of David and Laura (Carrier) Sherren. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1917 with the Nova Scotia Highlanders serving with he 105th Battalion in France and Belgium until 1919. Earl was a faithful member of The Royal Canadian Legion, Post 139 George Girouard in Brockton, Massachusetts until the time of his passing in 1958.
