VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 19 / 105 THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND COMMAND TAYLOR, Arnold Dudley WWII Arnold was born in Charlottetown on July 16, 1913, the son of Wilfred Taylor and Beatrice Holbrook. He attended Mount Allison University. Before enlisting, he worked with his father in a pharmacy drugstore they owned in Kensington. He was married to Annilea MacDonald of Crapaud. They had one daughter, Barbara. Arnold served in Canada, England and Italy during World War II. He was serving with the West Nova Scotia Regiment as an officer in Italy when he was killed on August 30, 1944. STRANG, Charles “Tupper” WWII Cpl. Strang was born to parents Edgar Phinney and Annie (MacPhail) Strang in 1900 in New Dominion. He was brought up by his mother’s uncles and aunts in New Dominion on the family farm. Tupper joined the Royal Canadian Air Force in 1941 until 1945 in the Air Force Service Police Corp. Tupper saw service at RCAF stations Summerside, Trenton, Ontario, plus other stations. Following the end of the war and his active service, Tupper returned to New Dominion to the family farm where he farmed the rest of his life. Following his discharge, he married Irene Smith and together they raised their five children. Tupper passed away in 1987. STEWART, Earl Scott WWII Earl was born in Charlottetown, PEI in 1913. He enlisted with the Royal Canadian Signal Corps and served overseas as a communicator from 1942 to the end of the conflict. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, France and Germany Star, Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the War Medal 1939-1945. Earl married Ruth Stewart from Charlottetown and they had two children who both live in Charlottetown. Earl passed away in 1981.
