VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 19 / 73 THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND COMMAND MacKINNON, Gordon “Gordie” Gordie was born in Beaton Mills, PEI on July 19, 1927, the son of Alex and Lena (Beaton) MacKinnon. He enlisted in the Canadian Army. Gordie passed away in Newcastle, NB on November 30, 1990. He was laid to rest in Palmer Road Church Cemetery in Tignish, PEI. MacKINNON, Eugene Clairmont WWII Eugene was born in 1920 in Prince Edward Island to his parents Reuben and Lena MacKinnon of Rocky Point. He joined the P.E.I. Highlanders in 1940 as part of the RCA Infantry Corp. L/CPL MacKinnon died from the effects of Typhoid Fever on July 25, 1941, at the age of 21. He is buried in New Dominion United Church Cemetery. He is listed in the Commemorated Second World War Book of Remembrance on page 36. MacKENZIE, Gerald D. PEACETIME Gerald was born on Prince Edward Island in 1931, the son of Leroy and Bella MacKenzie. He was one of four brothers and one sister. Gerald served with the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1954 to 1975 spending time in Goose Bay, NL; Summerside, PEI and four years in Germany from 1958 to 1962; Greenwood, Nova Scotia then Winnipeg where he eventually retired. He was married to Edey who passed away in 2012 and they had one son.
