VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 19 / 77 THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND COMMAND MacLEOD, Thomas WWI Thomas was born in Long Creek, PEI in 1881, the son of George and Annie MacLeod. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in World War I and earned his stripes as Sergeant. He served in Canada and in Europe. On his return to Canada, he settled in Long Creek and became a fisherman. He and his wife Eleanor raised their family of four children. Thomas passed away in 1933 at the young age of 52. He was laid to rest in Long Creek United Baptist Cemetery. MacLEOD, Roy WWII Roy was born in Long Creek, PEI on April 16, 1914, the son of Thomas and Eleanor (Alchorn) MacLeod. He was a carpenter and fisherman by trade. Roy enlisted to serve his country in World War II with the Canadian Army in 1942 serving three and a half years. He and his wife Irene raised a family of four. Roy passed away on March 13, 1983. He was laid to rest in Shaws Pioneer Cemetery in St. Catherines, PEI. MacLEOD, Louis WWII Louis was born in Long Creek, PEI, on September 29, 1918, the son of Thomas and Eleanor (Alchorn) MacLeod. He enlisted in 1940 to serve his country with the Royal Canadian Navy. He served for five years during World War II as a Leading Seaman in the Battle of the Atlantic on HMCS Shawinigan 1136, the Sherbrook K152 and the Montreal K319. Louis and his wife raised a family of three. They made their home in Niagara Falls, Ontario. Louis passed away on October 16, 2011.
