WWII John was born on August 24, 1924, the son of William and Euphrenia (MacKenzie) Rose. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in October 1942 at the age of eighteen. During his subsequent military service, John went overseas, first to England and then to North Africa and Italy. He saw active duty in both the European and African theatres of war. He was wounded in action with his injuries resulting in his medical discharge on July 6, 1944. Upon his return to Canada, he was hospitalized for a time at Camp Hill Veterans Hospital in Halifax, Nova Scotia. John passed away on March 14, 1986, at the age of 62. ROGERSON, Hallett WWI Hallett was born in Westmoreland, PEI. He served overseas during World War I. After the war, he returned and settled on a farm in PEI. ROGERSON, Gordon James WWII Gordon was born in Tryon, PEI in 1920. He served in the Army with the PEI Highlanders, 1st Canadian Division, Infantry Reinforcement Unit, West Nova Scotia Regiment in Canada, the United Kingdom, Sicily and Italy during World War II. Gordon lost his leg while serving in Italy when the West Novas were in action on the Ortona Front. After discharge from the army in 1945, he married Madeline (Peggy) Fleet and raised his children. He was a member of the War Amputees Association of Canada and involved with AA until his death at the age of 72. He is remembered as a cheerful man who loved to joke around. This World War II Veteran’s life was surrounded by family and friends.
