VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 19 / 95 THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND COMMAND SHERREN, Arthur Roland WWII Arthur was born in Crapaud, PEI in 1906, the son of Sam and Ellen Sherren. He enlisted in the Canadian Army Service Corps and served as a cook in Canada during World War II. He was a member of The Royal Canadian Legion Borden Branch for over twenty years. Arthur passed away in 1965. SHERREN, Alfred William PEACETIME Alfred was born on January 19, 1942, the son of Louis H. D. and Dorothy Sherren. He enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in October 1959. He attained the rank of Leading Aircraftman and was a trade radar ground technician. He was stationed at RCAF Station Saint-Jean, Quebec; RCAF Station Clinton, Ontario; RCAF Station St. Margarets, New Brunswick; Keesler Airforce Base in Biloxi, Mississippi; and RCAF Station Yorkton, Saskatchewan. He was honourably released in October 1964. SEAMAN, William James WWI William was born in Wheatley River on August 18, 1874, the son of Thomas Seaman and Sophia Andrews. In 1893, he joined the militia and four years later he was one of four to represent the regiment at Queen Victoria’s Diamond Jubilee in 1897. He enlisted in Charlottetown in 1916 with the 105th Overseas Regiment. William also served with the 13th Reserve Battalion, New Brunswick Regiment. He went overseas in July 1916, but since he was over forty years old, he was not sent into battle. He was appointed acting Transport Sergeant with the regiment in Lower Dibgate. He returned to Canada on November 17, 1917, and returned to the farm and was later appointed Postmaster in Breadalbane. William passed away in 1960.
