He enlisted in the Army on November 19, 1941 and was discharged on January 16, 1946. He served as a Corporal in the 8 Recce in Canada, England, France and Germany. SMITH, Lester WWII Lester was born in 1916 in Nine Mile Creek. His parents were Donald (Dan) and Margaret (Maggie) Smith and his siblings were William, George, Jessie, Mary, Dolly and Catherine. Lester Smith joined the army in 1940. He was stationed in Halifax until the end of the war. After armistice, Lester settled on his parent’s home place. Lester Smith married Ena MacNevin. They had six children: Grant, Sidney, David, Dianne, Trevor and Leonard. Lester passed away in 1996. SKERRY, Roy Denzil WWII Roy was born in Alberton District, the son of John W. and Liza M. (Schroder) Skerry. He enlisted in the Army on July 15, 1940 and was discharged on May 12, 1941. He served as a Private in the PEI Highlanders in Canada.
