VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 20 / 103 THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND COMMAND WATTS, Victor WWII Victor was born in Cumberland, PEI to parents Percy and Lillian Watts. Following the outbreak of World War II, Victor enrolled in the Royal Canadian Navy (RCN) and served on various ships. Following his release at the end of the war, he married Ruby Downe and together they raised four children. His date of death is unavailable. WALLACE, John “Alvin” WWII John was born in Alberton District, the son of John W. and Winnifred (A’Hearn) Wallace. He enlisted in the Army in May 1943 and was discharged in April 1946. He served as a Private in Canada. TAYLOR, Roland Dennis BOER WAR Roland was born on March 2, 1878, in Charlottetown, Prince Edward Island, the son of Mr. E.W. Taylor of Charlottetown. He enlisted in the Army on October 20, 1899, in Charlottetown and was one of two members of the Royal Canadian Regiment who were from Prince Edward Island. Private Roland Dennis Taylor was killed on February 18, 1900, in Paardeberg, South Africa during the Boer War. He is buried at the Vendusiedrift Garden of Remembrance (Paardeberg). His name is inscribed on the Boer War Monument in Charlottetown. Roland had formerly served with the Charlottetown Engineering Company. He is commemorated on Page 40 of the South African War Book of Remembrance.
