VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 20 / 17 THE LEGION IN THE COMMUNITY Borden-Carleton Legion Branch No 10 presented Legionnaire of the Year Awards to (left to right) Dawn Gradwell, Arthur Ranahan, Pieter and Daria Valkenburg. Branch Past President Brian O’Connor received a Life Membership far right. One Lifetime Membership into the RCL and three Legionnaire of the Year Awards were presented, these three awards were presented as no dinner has been held for several years. Amherst Cove Consolidated School Grade 9 student Alva Pacatcatin, daughter of Aldrin and Eva Pacatcatin, was awarded Third Prize, Category - Intermediate Black and White. Presenting her certificate is Comrade Pieter Valkenburg, Public Relations Officer, Borden-Carleton Legion. Big night at Kingston Legion, which supports the 107 New Haven Army Cadets, their Annual Ceremonial Review. Aurora Ulvstal was promoted to Chief Warrant Officer and RSM (Regimental Sargent Major) and was awarded the Cadet Medal of Excellence! Over 300 cadets were nominated and only 10 recipients island wide. Presenting the Cadet Medal of Excellence is Branch President Comrade David Cosh. Comrades Maxine Evans, Branch President Comrade Brian Rector and Robin Smith of the Make a Wish Foundation with members of HMCS Charlottetown. The Montague Branch donated $500. The crew of HMCS Charlottetown ran across the Island raising funds for the Make a Wish Foundation.
