VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 20 / 35 THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND COMMAND BALLUM, Willard WWII Willard was born in 1918 in Victoria West, PEI. He served with the Canadian Armoured Corps, PEI Lighthorse, Lord Strathcona Horse from 1941 to 1946. Willard passed away in 1996. ARSENAULT, Theodore “Ted” WWI Theodore was born in Egmont Bay on May 14, 1897, the son of Francois Arsenault and Adeline Gallant. He enlisted with the 105th Overseas Battalion in Summerside on May 1, 1916. He arrived in Liverpool, England, on July 25, 1916. In November 1916, he was sent to France and served with the 14th Battalion (The Royal Montreal Regiment). On November 5, 1917, during the second Battle of Passchendaele, he was poisoned by a mustard gas shell that exploded. He was invalided to England and was hospitalized until March 8, 1918. He was sent back to France on May 16, 1918. On August 9, 1918, at the start of the Battle of Amiens, he was killed in action near Cayeux. He is buried in the Manitoba Cemetery. ARSENAULT, Camille WWI Camille was born on Prince Edward Island in 1897. He served with the 105th Overseas Battalion CEF in Canada, the United Kingdom, and possibly France during World War I. Camille passed away in 1956.
