VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 20 / 71 THE ROYAL CANADIAN LEGION PRINCE EDWARD ISLAND COMMAND LEWIS, George Henry WWII George was born in Bloomfield District, the son of Harry and Jane (Butler) Lewis. He enlisted in the Army on August 13, 1942 and was discharged on January 28, 1943. He served as a Private in Canada. LESLIE, Harold Harry WWI Harold was born in 1894. He enlisted in 1915 and served overseas until being discharged in 1919. He was a gun layer in the artillery during World War I. He received a medal for bravery on the field in July 1917. KING, William Thomas Russell WWI William enlisted on August 6, 1914 and went overseas with the first contingent serving as a driver with 1st Division Train, Canadian Army Service Corps. William died on April 8, 1918, at the age of 26. He was the son of Mary and Alex King, of St. John’s, Newfoundland. William is remembered with honour at the Ecoivres Military Cemetery in Mont-St. Eloi.
