The MSM is the most prestigious award that can be given to members, ordinary, associate or affiliate voting members. At Saturday evening's Remembrance Day dinner, the Royal Canadian Legion, Wellington Legion Branch #17, David Gallant (Royal Canadian Navy veteran and Legion President), David Redmond (Army veteran and active member of the Executive Council) and Mario Couture (Royal Canadian Navy veteran and active member of the Executive Council) had the ultimate honour of awarding this medal to a member of the same Legion. Mr. Gilles Painchaud (Air Force veteran) was awarded the medal for his involvement in the Legion, in the community and throughout Prince Edward Island. Both within the Legion by helping veterans and the community, and outside the Legion for his contribution to Chez-Nous and the Wellington Funeral Home. Mr. Gilles Painchaud offers his heart and soul to his community without the slightest request for thanks. At Wellington Legion Branch #17, we hold Comrade Painchaud in the highest esteem for all he does for our Legion, for veterans and for our community, and we are proud to have awarded him the Meritorious Service Medal.
