VETERANS’ SERVICE RECOGNITION BOOK – VOLUME 21 / 23 THE LEGION IN THE COMMUNITY Command President Comrade Jack MacIsaac is presenting a Cheque to the QEH foundation for $3000, accepting is the Director of the QEH Foundation. Students have written letters of thanks for over 26 years now from Summerside Intermediate School. They have also delivered treats on special occasions the past few years. The students and teachers have received lovely letters from Island veterans to students with their appreciation. This has been a very meaningful endeavour that teacher, Ms. Stacy Thain completed with current students and their parents too. Students are pictured presenting to Comrade Arthur Hiscock (Veteran of Korean War). He may appreciate seeing that these young people certainly are thankful for their freedom and sacrifices made by so many. Comrade James Williams is being presented with his Life Membership Award and looking on is one of our Branch last WW 11 Veterans, Comrade James Burleigh age 98, who also attended and laid a wreath at the Ellerslie Legion Branch Remembrance Day Service. Comrade Burleigh also attended the service and placed wreaths at Lennox Island and the Mount Pleasant #10 Bombing and Gunnery School (1943-45) Cenotaph.
