Legion Reopening questions
May 26, 2020
Comrades,
I have been in contact once again today with the Premiers office and Public Health office, trying to get some advice on reopening our branches as well as designing a plan to do so.
I have not had any response other than the Premiers secretary had forwarded both requests to the Public Health office.
Today's Public Health broadcast from Dr. Morrison indicated that larger gatherings won't happen until July 1st meanwhile Phase 3 states only 15 people will be allowed to gather with self distancing beginning June 1st.
The following information was taken from the Renew PEI Together website for Phase 3 Personal services, indoor dining and accommodations:
NOTE; Not all organizations and businesses have been identified in the respective phases. Indoor dining at food premises permitted BUT guidelines are forthcoming following consultation with industry.
To date, we have not yet been consulted or included in the planning and have not received the guidelines.
I hope that we will receive news shortly so that we can plan accordingly for reopening and also what we will have to do if there was a second wave of the virus.
So, the bottom line is that until we receive instructions from Public Health, we will NOT be opening our Branches.
Note: Each Branch will have to complete a COVID-19 Operational Plan Template (https://www.princeedwardisland.ca/sites/default/files/forms/covid_operat...)
All businesses and organizations operating during the COVID-19 pandemic are required to have an operational plan. You do not need to submit the operational plan to the Chief Public Health Office before reopening. However, the plan will need to be made available during inspections by a government official.
Your Provincial Command will endeavour to keep everyone informed as best we can with the information that is provided to us by Public Health and the PEI Government.
